We are now halfway through Term 3, and it has been wonderful to see so many rich learning opportunities happening across our school each week. Our Year 6 students will soon begin their transition visits to Exeter High School as they prepare for the next step in their learning journey. Meanwhile, our Year 5/6 students are looking forward to their upcoming camp at Clayton in Ulverstone, which promises to be an exciting and memorable experience.
Celebrating Our Positive External School Review
We are delighted to share the outcomes of our recent External School Review, which highlighted many strengths within our school and confirmed that we are on a strong, positive trajectory.
The review team commended the caring and supportive culture that is evident across our school community. Students were consistently described as feeling safe, valued, and known by staff. Families echoed these sentiments, recognising the welcoming environment and the strong connections built between home and school.
Our commitment to high-quality teaching and learning was also noted. The panel acknowledged the way staff are engaging with evidence-based approaches such as UFLI and Word Origins, and the way these practices are strengthening literacy outcomes across year levels. Data was praised for being used thoughtfully to monitor progress, identify next steps, and ensure that every student is supported to grow.
The review also highlighted our dedication to student wellbeing, including the ongoing implementation of The Resilience Project, which helps our learners develop important skills in gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. The panel commented on the way wellbeing and academic growth are closely linked in our school’s vision and practice.
Importantly, the review confirmed that Beaconsfield Primary is a high-performing school with clear priorities for improvement that will continue to build on our strengths. The positive feedback provides us with confidence that the work we are doing together is making a real difference for students.
We extend our thanks to all staff, students, families and School Association members who contributed to the review process. Your voices and experiences helped demonstrate the unique strengths of our school and our shared commitment to growth.
Together, we look forward to the next chapter of learning, growth and achievement at Beaconsfield Primary School.

Celebrating Book Week at Beaconsfield Primary
Last week our school came alive with colour, imagination, and creativity as we celebrated Book Week. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing stories to life across the school. The parade was a highlight, with students proudly sharing their costumes and a real sense of excitement filling the hall and down the main street.
A very big thank you to our families for the time, effort, and enthusiasm you put into supporting your children, the results were fantastic and created such a joyful atmosphere. We also extend our thanks to the Lions Club for running the BBQ and to our local community partners, Neighbourhood House, Beaconsfield Pharmacy, Beaconsfield Fire Brigade, Harcourts West Tamar and the Beaconsfield Bakery, for their generous contributions. Your support helped make the day a true community celebration. Thank you to Linda Pasfield Photography for the wonderful images captured throughout the day.
Book Week is a reminder of the joy and importance of reading. At Beaconsfield Primary, we love seeing our students developing their passion for books, stories, and learning. Thank you to everyone who helped make Book Week such a memorable event for our students!
Family Partnership Conversations Term 3
In Week 9 of Term 3, we are providing an opportunity for families who would like to meet with their child’s class teacher. It is not expected that all families will attend these sessions. Instead, they are designed as a chance to:
Follow up on any goals or discussions from Term 2 meetings
Raise and discuss any new issues or concerns that may have emerged
Please note that there will not be a formal written report during Term 3.
We recognise that parents and families are critical partners in student learning and development. If you have any concerns at any stage of the year, we encourage you to contact your child’s teacher directly. Often, addressing concerns early can help to support your child more effectively. Further information has been sent home, including how to make bookings.
Supporting Every Student’s Literacy Journey: Our Approach
At our school, we’re committed to making sure every child and young person receives the literacy support they need—when they need it. That’s why we use a consistent, evidence-based approach across all Department schools called the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Here’s how MTSS works:
Tier 1 – For all students: Every child is taught to read using proven, evidence-based teaching strategies.
Tier 2 – For some students: Those who need extra time and practice with specific literacy skills work in smaller groups. Once they’ve mastered the skill, they return to Tier 1.
Tier 3 – For a few students: These learners receive one-on-one support to help them learn specific literacy skills, alongside the learning in Tiers 1.
This system ensures that every student gets the right amount of help at the right time. Whether it’s extra practice or individual support, MTSS is our way of making sure no student is left behind in their literacy journey.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about how your child’s learning is supported, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
2025 Families School Satisfaction Survey – Invitation
The 2025 School Satisfaction Survey is open! Further information has been provided.
We want to hear from you, as input from families is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making. Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you took part in our online survey about Beaconsfield Primary School.
The survey is open from Monday 25 August 2025 until Friday 19 September 2025 and should take about 5 minutes to complete. Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff. Please contact school if you require any assistance. Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
