Principal’s Report
NAPLAN
Over the past week, Year 3 and 5 students have participated in NAPLAN completing assessments in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions and Numeracy. Well done to students for their application and efforts to do their best. Results will be available later in the year.
Swimming Carnival
The Swimming Carnival was held earlier this week for students in Years 3-6. It was great to see positive participation and a noticeable improvement in students swimming skills following our recent Swimming and Water Safety Program. There was lots of laughter and enjoyment throughout the day. Well done everyone. Congratulations to Flinders House on winning the house competition. Students who performed well at the school event will be selected to compete at the TPSSA Carnival in Term 4 TBC.
Easter Raffle
Students are invited to wear free dress on Friday 28 March 2025. Please donate a chocolate easter egg or bunny to support prizes for our raffle. Raffle books will be sent home this week. Please return completed raffle books with money to class teachers or the main office by Tuesday 8 April. The raffle will be drawn on Thursday 10 April at the Easter Hat Parade.
Athletics Carnival – Wednesday 26 March 2025
K-2 students will take part in Tabloid Sports on the bottom soccer pitch (behind the school oval) from 9.10 finishing prior to recess. Year 3-6 students will be on the oval for their carnival which will be a full day event beginning at 9.10. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours (Bass – red, Flinders – yellow). Spectators are welcome to attend and cheer on students. A sectioned area will be provided for you to view from in line with DECYP Safeguarding Guidelines (chairs/picnic mat encouraged).
*K-2 students asked to bring a teddy bear for their event.
ANZAC Day Parade/Service Friday 25 April
ANZAC Day will be in the holidays again this year. Students are invited to meet school staff at the ‘Bruen Waterwheel’ on the corner of West Street at 10.30am to begin the parade at 10.45am. All students marching on behalf of the school are required to wear their full school uniform. We will march from West Street to the Cenotaph on Weld Street. Students are invited to remain at the service beginning at 11.00am, seated on a tarpaulin with school staff. Families are welcome to collect their child from the service on conclusion of the formalities. An expression of interest form has been provided to students who have shown interest in taking part – this is to assist with gauging numbers for staffing. Please collect a form from your child’s class teacher if they will take part.

FREE DRESS DAY Friday 28 March

Launching into Learning Term 1

What’s been happening in 5/6A Evans

Students in 5/6 Evans have been reading the novel Matilda by Roald Dahl. The students chose a character to analyse and then created a life-size artwork by drawing around their own body. Students then painted their character and arranged different adjectives around them to describe their character’s personality traits and physical appearance.
