Principal’s Report
School Association
In recent weeks, the School Association held it’s AGM and General Meeting. I would like to thank outgoing members for their contributions to Beaconsfield Primary School and welcome newly elected members. The following parents were elected to executive positions:
Chairperson – Laura Clark
Vice Chairperson – Corrina Phelps
Secretary – Rebecca Reed
Treasurer – Toni Sheppard
I look forward to working with this committee throughout the year.
Progress Reports
Progress reports for students in Prep to Year 6 went home at the end of last week. These reports provide a snapshot to families about how students have commenced and settled into Term 1. These reports do not contain a written comment. Please contact your child’s class teacher about any questions or concerns.
Towards the end of Term 2, there will be an opportunity for a face-to-face conversation with your child’s class teacher as a part of the mid-year reporting phase. At this meeting, samples of your child’s work will be available and provide an opportunity to view their progress against the Australian Curriculum.

Attendance
Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their friends and teachers. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most.
If your child is away for any reason, please notify the school office to ensure the school attendance records are accurate. If you are having difficulty getting your child to school, please reach out to your child’s class teacher in the first instance, we can discuss the best ways to support you and your child.
Toys at School
A reminder that students are discouraged from bringing toys to school. These can be a distraction during their learning time. Children can also become very upset if they loose or break these items. Please leave them at home.
Safeguarding Students
Thank you to families supporting our school with adhering to the safeguarding expectations to keep our students safe. Parents/carers must remain outside the classroom during learning times. Families are welcome into classrooms at the beginning and end of the day from 8.30-9 and after 3. If you need to collect your child during the school day, please do so through the main office. If you wish to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss a matter which requires more time, please make an appointment through the school office.
Uniform Expectations
Thank you to students who are consistently wearing school uniform and to families for supporting your child with this expectation. During the warmer weather students have been well dressed and meeting the expectations in-line with the uniform policy. As the weather cools down, it is important that students layer their uniform to keep warm. We have plenty of warm options, including rugby jumpers, polar fleece jackets, windcheaters, and soft shell jackets. Hoodies or non-uniform coloured items are not to be worn. Please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance if you are needing support with uniform.
ANZAC Day – Thursday 25 April
ANZAC Day will be in the holidays again this year. Students are invited to meet school staff at the ‘Bruen Waterwheel’ on the corner of West Street at 10.30am to begin the parade at 10.45am. All students marching on behalf of the school are required to wear their full school uniform. We will march from West Street to the Cenotaph on Weld Street. Students are invited to remain at the service beginning at 11.00am, seated on a tarpaulin with school staff. Families are welcome to collect their child from the service on conclusion of the formalities.
Happy Holidays
With just one week remaining of Term 1, I would like to wish families a lovely term break and a Happy Easter.
