In the last fortnight, many families have experienced challenging times related to the wild weather conditions, which caused prolonged power outages, fallen trees, damage to houses and minor flooding in some areas. Well done to everyone who has persevered through these events.
Such events also highlight the positive community spirit and the willingness to lend a hand and support one another when times are tough, which I am sure many are grateful for. It is particularly important that where and when possible, to maintain regular routines and for children to attend school. Attendance at school can support them to have some normality and structure in their lives. Thank you to families for ensuring your child was at school when able to do so.
Family Partnership Reporting Conversations – Week 9, Term 3
We place high value on family partnerships and the role you play in your child’s education. As such, reporting conversations will be available during Week 9 of Term 3 should you wish to make an appointment.
This is an opportunity to share information about your child and discuss their academic, social, and emotional development. Details were provided last week about how to book your appointment. Please contact the school office if you need support to make a booking.
Minister for Education Visit
Last week, Minister for Education, Jo Palmer visited Beaconsfield Primary School. Minister Palmer met with students, Charlee, Jordan and Tayla, who guided a tour of the school, visiting many classrooms, observing the great learning happening in these spaces. Minister Palmer also interviewed these students about the Hot Lunch Program – getting some honest answers about their most loved foods and what they enjoy about the program.
Transition to Exeter High School
Year 6 students have commenced their transition visits to Exeter High. Students accessed the newly redeveloped kitchen to make Double Chocolate Muffins. Students were buzzing with excitement on their return, keen to share their stories and make us envious of their delicious goodies. The transition program will continue weekly for the remainder of Term 3, with other activities scheduled for Ag Studies, Art and MDT.
Colour Explosion Run – 31 October
During Term 4, our School Association will host a Colour Explosion Running event. This will be a major fundraiser for our school community and enable ongoing contributions to school improvements and activities. There has been a terrific response to students registering and beginning their fundraising. Further details about the event will be released closer to the date.
To register your child, visit australianfundraising.com.au and create your profile page, alternatively, scan the QR code to get started.
Mrs Daisy Stephens Principal
Introducing Our School Chaplain
Greetings, my name is Linda Pasfield, and I am thrilled to join Beaconsfield Primary School as a Chaplain. With 30 years of experience running my own wedding and portrait photography business, as well as serving as a Chaplain and Support person for City Mission Launceston, I bring a strong background in supporting others. I have also had the privilege of mentoring students at our local high school, where I found great joy in encouraging and providing support. In my new role at Beaconsfield Primary School, I aim to provide care for the social, emotional, mental, well-being of students and the school community. By offering this support, I hope to help students reach their full potential both academically and in their personal and social lives.
If you think your child would benefit from social, emotional or wellbeing support please speak with your child’s class teacher, and you will be provided with a Chaplaincy Consent Form. I feel privileged to be your School Chaplain and would love to connect with you, so please come and say ‘hi’ or send me an email. I am at Beaconsfield Primary School, Tuesday, and Thursday’s. Email is linda.pasfield@suchaplaincy.org.au.
