Principal’s Report
Book Week – Reading is Magic
We had a fantastic turn out for our Book Week Parade last week. Students and families went to great efforts with their character costumes. Thank you to everyone who joined with us for the story reading with Steve and Chester, as well as those who joined in for the parade down Weld St. Thank you to the following businesses for welcoming our students into your workplaces to share a special book with you: Beaconsfield Neighbourhood House, West Tamar Pharmacy, Beaconsfield Post Office, Jubilee Bakery and Harcourts West Tamar. Many thanks to the volunteers of the Lions Club of West Tamar for their wonderful support in preparing and serving our BBQ for students, staff and families.
Carpark Maintenance
Earlier this week, the shared carpark between the school and Beaconsfield Child and Family Learning Centre underwent some maintenance in the garden. Sections of the garden have been removed to improve vision and student safety. Thank you to Mrs Hillier for coordinating this work and the support of CFLC.
Auskick AFL Tas Clinics
Students in Years 1-6 have welcomed AFL Tasmania to facilitate football sessions as a part of their PE lessons. Students have learned and practiced a range of skills; chest mark, overhead mark, handball and bouncing the ball. We look forward to seeing students continue to develop their skills over the following weeks. There is also an opportunity for students to take part in an after-school AFL Clinic – please see flyer in the newsletter.
Soccer Goals
Students are very excited to be playing with new soccer goals which were generously purchased by our School Association. We are very grateful for the ongoing support from members of the Association.
Young Scientists Visit
Year 1/2s hosted The Young Tassie Scientists last week as a part of celebrating National Science Week. The Scientists shared their work through interactive talks and activities to engage students. Students rotated between classes to hear about a range of different sciences.
Year 6 Transition to Exeter High
Year 6 students will begin their transition visits to Exeter High School in Weeks 7, 8, 9 and 10. Students will spend a lesson at high school engaging with activities in Cooking, MDT, Ag Studies and Art. Further information will be provided to students and families.
Father’s Day Stall
Thank you to parent volunteers and members of the School Association for their support in coordinating and running the Father’s Day Stall during the week. Thank you also to our Year 6 Student Leaders for their support on the day. Wishing families an enjoyable weekend with your loved ones.
Beaconsfield Primary School Colour Explosion – 31 October TBC
During Term 4, our School Association will host a Colour Explosion event. This will be a major fundraiser for our school community and enable ongoing contributions to school improvements and activities. Further details about how students can be involved will be shared in the coming weeks.
The Schools Triathlon Challenge
The Primary Schools Triathlon is on Friday 22 November 2024 for students in Years 3-6. The event is held in Devonport at the Bluff.
The Schools Triathlon Challenge is a well organised event that focuses on participation and fun. The event has two categories to enter - individual and teams’ event. The team event is like a relay with a swim, ride, and run leg with three students making up the team to compete in each leg. Or students can participate as an individual completing all three legs on their own.
As in previous years, Beaconsfield Primary will support students on the day and provide a teacher to help supervise and get students ready for their events, however, we won’t be able to transport students to or from the event due to the complexities with transporting bikes etc. Parents/carers will need to arrange transport for students.
Entry forms will be available from the school office if you wish for your child to enter this event or available through this link Entry-Form-2024.pdf (schoolstriathlonchallenge.com). Please contact the Mrs Gore should you require further information. Entry fees are $25 per students which can be paid to the school office.
