Principal’s Report
Winter Sport
The first round of Winter Sport for students in Years 4-6 began in Week 2. The Tamar Primary School Sports Association implemented a new format, with schools in the region all participating from South George Town Primary School or Blue Gum Park. There was a lot of positive feedback about the new roster from students and staff. It was great for students to have many games against several schools across the day. We look forward to round 2 this week.

Book Week
The Book Week Parade is Tuesday 20 August. Be inspired to dress up as your favourite book character!
Beginning at 11.40 in the School Hall, followed by a Parade through Weld St. Students will depart from the Hall at approximately 12pm, returning in time for lunch. Classes will be visiting local businesses to listen to a story before returning to school for a free sausage sizzle (1 x sausage per person). Families are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there.
Kinder students who do not attend on Tuesday are invited and encouraged to come along but MUST have a parent/carer with them.
Enrolments for 2025 Kindergarten are now open! If you have a child (or know of a child in our local area) who turns 4 before the 1 January 2025 (born in 2020), please contact our school office to collect an enrolment form.
Proof of your child’s birth, immunisation records, evidence of residential address and parent/carer identification will be required as part of the enrolment process.
You are welcome to join our Launching into Learning and/or Pre-Kinder Programs over the coming months to help further prepare your child for Kindergarten in the new year.
Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey: Years 4-6
The wellbeing of our students is important to us - we want to hear how students feel, and think, about different things going on in their lives.
Those in Years 4-6 at will be taking part in the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. The results from this survey will help us get a picture of the current wellbeing of our students, and what we can do to improve future wellbeing for learning. The more students who take part, the clearer our picture will be.
The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey is part of the Department’s Child and Student Wellbeing Strategy .
The details for the survey are:
When: 26 August – 20 September 2024
Who: Years 4-6
What do I need to do: You and your child don’t need to do anything. The survey will be done in class time and will not require your child to prepare in any way.
A letter with more information has been sent home with all Year 4-6 students, including Frequently Asked Questions and a form to sign and return to the school if you do not want your child to participate in the survey.
If you would like further information, please contact the school office.
Thank you for supporting us to ensure that all our learners are safe, feel supported and are able to flourish, so they can engage in learning.

What’s been happening in 1/2A Taylor/Barnett
In Science in 1/2A Barnett/ Taylor we have been observing changes and patterns in weather. We read the story Little Cloud by Eric Carl and then used our imaginations to create images in the clouds outside our classroom. We used white paint and black markers to create our artwork.
