Principal’s Report
Presentation Assembly
Congratulations to students who were acknowledged in the Presentation Assembly on Friday of last week. It was wonderful to have so many family members and supporters of Beaconsfield Primary School in attendance. It was pleasing to have positive feedback from those in attendance, particularly about the change in venue and hosting the event at the school hall.
Our 2024 Student Leadership Council were also presented with a certificate and badge at the assembly. The newly elected leaders are Angus Clues, Mia Donohue, Milly Hadley, Cohen Le Mercier, Tayla Spring and Luke Wright. Congratulations to these students.
Many thanks to local organisations, businesses and individuals who continue to sponsor awards for students. Your ongoing support is much appreciated, and the event would not be as successful without your contribution.
Thank you to Mrs Jayne Stewart, Mrs Katrina Hillier and Mrs Tahlia Ross for their organisation and coordination of the assembly. Thank you also to Mrs Christine Stansby who catered for the afternoon tea following the assembly.
2024 Staffing and Class Placements
There are several staffing changes for 2024. My well wishes are extended to Mrs Karen Dawber and Mrs Bronwyn Jamieson who have been appointed as permanent staff to the department and will take up their appointment in new schools in 2024. I thank them for their contribution to our school. Congratulations to Mrs Cheryl Broomhall who has been appointed as the Quality Teaching Coach and AST for 2024 and will continue at Beaconsfield Primary. We will welcome back Ms Kloe Wright after being on maternity leave.
In other staffing information. We will also be welcoming a group of new staff including the following teachers, Miss Abby Clements, Mr Michael Bissell and Mrs Lauren Evans.
Students will visit their 2024 classrooms and teachers on Friday. This is an opportunity for students to become familiar with their new learning environment and their class teacher. Class placements will be sent home in reports on Friday afternoon. Staff have worked meticulously to ensure that classes are balanced, taking into consideration students academic, social and emotional needs.
End of Year Picnic – Scottsdale Pool
Students have received information about the School Picnic to be held at the Scottsdale Pool next Wednesday 20 December. Students will travel by bus under the supervision of Beaconsfield Primary School Staff. Qualified lifeguards will be on duty at the pool to assist with monitoring students throughout the day. Parents/carers have previously completed the Major Excursions and Aquatic Consent Form earlier in the year giving consent for their child to attend. If any of your child’s medical information has changed during the year, please contact the office ASAP to update these details.
Students will need to bring a packed lunch and drink. Access to the kiosk will be available but this will be limited to small snacks. Students are reminded to be sun safe by wearing a wide brim or bucket style hat, regularly applying sunscreen (provided), and wearing a rash vest (or similar) whilst swimming and out of the water.
Due to the requirements in planning an event such as this, no additional family/parents will be able to attend the event. This is to meet the expectations of DECYP’s Risk Management Procedures.
Year 6 End of Year Activities
Next week, Year 6 students will attend ‘A Big Day Out’ followed by their Leavers’ Celebration held at the school hall from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. We look forward to celebrating with students as they conclude their formal schooling at Beaconsfield Primary School. Best wishes to students as they transition to high school in 2024.
Teddies and Bin, Rhyme and Sing Performance
Teddies and Bin, Rhyme and Sing from Happy Habits, performed for students in Kinder to Year 2 this week. This was a heart-warming performance which received lots of laughter from our young people. The underlying message encouraged students to focus on developing positive friendship.
Christmas Concert
After many weeks of rehearsal, students got to have their moment in the spotlight to perform their class Christmas carol. Thank you to all families and friends for coming along to support this festive activity. We are also very grateful to the Lions Club of West Tamar for being on hand to cook and serve the BBQ. We hope families got to enjoy a sausage with their children.
Students particularly enjoyed the visit from Santa and his Little Helpers after lunch for an icy pole treat and returning to class to see a gift. Thank you to everyone involved.

School Levies for 2024
As per guidelines for Department for Education, Children and Young People, school levies at Beaconsfield Primary School for 2024 will be charged as one annual all-inclusive levy for each student.
Levies are subsidised by the school and form an essential proportion of the school’s income. Parents contribute towards the cost of essential items and services that support normal educational instruction through payment of levies for their child.
Families who are supported through the Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) do not need to pay levies. *Additional charges may be required for your child for some optional activity or programs, such as camps and extracurricular sports not covered by STAS. Please refer to Levy Information provided with report packs.
Payment of Levies
Levy invoices will be sent to families by DECYP in February, with the following payment options available:

If you wish for your child’s books to be covered and named there will be an opportunity for students to take them home in the first week, this will be at the teacher’s discretion. The cost of stationery is covered by the levy fee or STAS for each student. Some items of stationery will be allocated to students from their teacher throughout the year.

The Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) is financial assistance available to assist families with the cost of school levies only. The scheme provides assistance for low-income families towards the cost of levies for students enrolled from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
